EcoEmpower Alliance (EEA) hosted a successful sanitation sensitization program with the Taxi Drivers Association of Tamale at Jubilee Park. This one-day event brought together 45 drivers, including both seasoned and newer members of the association, to discuss the critical issue of plastic pollution.
EEA executives delivered an engaging presentation on the environmental and health hazards posed by plastic waste and emphasized the essential role drivers can play in combating this menace. Drivers were encouraged to practice proper waste disposal, set examples at taxi stations, and influence waste management behaviors within their homes and communities.
The drivers expressed their gratitude for the program, acknowledging its impact on their understanding of the issue. However, they raised concerns about the scarcity of waste bins in the Tamale Metropolis. They called on EEA and relevant organizations, particularly the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, to provide strategically placed waste collection bins to support the “Clean North Green North” initiative
This event highlighted the need for collaboration between community stakeholders, local authorities, and organizations like EEA to tackle the pressing issue of plastic pollution effectively.
